Example: (discussing binaries and Manichaean world views)

In act II Proctor declares to abigale that “You are pulling down heaven and raising up a whore!”. Here, the inverted spatial metaphor of a puritanical ‘heaven’ being “pulled down” and a whore being “raised up”, symbolises Abigail’s immediate relegation to the sexuallly deviant other - the “whore”- just as suspected communists were branded as ‘unAmerican’.

Notice that the technique i used wasn't necessarily a incredibly fancy technique with an extremely complicated latin name, but i rather just explained the “spatial metaphor” used in the quote which is both accurate and clear.
